Edifier Airpulse A100 Hi-Res Active Bookshelf Speakers – Horn-Loaded Ribbon Tweeters, 5" Aluminum Mid-Woofer, XMOS & Class-D Amp

These are phenomenal. The ribbon tweeters give vocals and cymbals this airy, lifelike quality I've only heard on way more expensive setups. The aluminum mid-woofers keep bass tight and controlled. Build quality feels like a premium product, and the aptX Bluetooth is seamless. At this sale price it's almost criminal.

I've been through three pairs of bookshelf speakers in five years and none of them touch these. The Phil Jones tuning is evident immediately — midrange is natural, highs are detailed without ever getting harsh, and the horn loading gives the soundstage real width. XMOS USB input from my PC is bit-perfect and the Class-D amp has plenty of headroom. I paired them with a small sub for movies and they're flawless. Honestly, the fact these cost under a grand at full retail is remarkable.

Sound quality is genuinely hi-res and the treble detail is outstanding. Setup took a bit of fiddling with the remote and the manual could be clearer. Still, for the money these are easily the best active speakers in this range.

Upgraded from basic powered monitors and the difference is night and day. Everything sounds more real.

The horn-loaded tweeters make acoustic music sound uncannily present. Bass goes deeper than I expected for the cabinet size. Bluetooth is convenient for casual listening and the wired inputs are clean. Only docked a star because the remote feels cheap next to the speakers themselves.

Detail and clarity are superb, no argument there. I just found the low end a touch lean for my taste in rock and electronic. Added a sub and now they're great. Think about that before buying.

Ordered during the sale with the extra coupon and still can't believe what arrived. These sound like $2000 speakers. Instruments are placed precisely in space, vocals are velvety, and nothing fatigues even after hours of listening. The build weight alone tells you Edifier means business. Bluetooth with aptX is a nice bonus for casual days. Utterly thrilled.

I do video editing and light mixing at home and the A100s reveal details my old monitors smoothed over. Flat, honest, and beautiful.

No complaints about audio — the ribbon tweeter really is special. Unfortunately my left speaker had a faint channel imbalance out of the box and I had to go through an exchange. Customer service sorted it eventually, but the QC experience knocked a couple stars off for me.
