Edifier Stax Spirit S5 Planar Magnetic Wireless Headphones with LDAC, aptX HD and 80-Hour Battery

I've wanted planar headphones with that electrostatic-level detail for years but could never justify the price. At under $100 for the S5, I finally pulled the trigger and I'm floored. LDAC over Bluetooth from my phone delivers genuinely hi-fi sound, and the 80-hour battery means I charge them maybe twice a month. The detail on acoustic recordings is breathtaking — string decay, room ambience, breath sounds, all there. This is the biggest bargain in headphones right now, full stop.

Wore these for a nine-hour flight and forgot they were on. aptX HD pairs beautifully with my DAC, and the planar drivers render classical music with a transparency I usually associate with open-backs. Battery life is as advertised. Outstanding.

No complaints about audio — LDAC mode is phenomenal and the 80-hour battery is real. My only gripe is the build feels lighter and cheaper than the $570 original price suggested. At the sale price, still a steal.

I have Sony and Bose cans that cost more, and I reached for the S5 every day until I finally sold the others. The planar clarity is that good. Call quality is fine, not amazing, but I bought these for music.

Sound is top tier for Bluetooth, no argument there. But if you're coming from ANC-focused headphones, the noise cancellation is noticeably weaker. For critical listening at home, five stars. For commuting, three.

I'm 62 and have tinnitus, which makes finding comfortable, non-fatiguing headphones hard. These are gentle on my ears while still revealing detail I thought I'd lost. My grandson set up the Bluetooth for me and it just works. Warmly recommended.

Bought these for work-from-home and weekend listening. Snapdragon Sound mode sounds great with my Pixel, and the battery is a set-and-forget affair. Earpads could be plusher, but that's a minor quibble.

Audio is lovely but the headband developed a creak within two weeks of normal use, and it's distracting. Also the left earcup occasionally loses sync. Quality control seems hit or miss; mine may just be a dud.

Ridiculous. $99 for planar magnetic with LDAC. Done thinking about it, just buy them.

The companion app took some patience to sort out codec settings, but once LDAC was active the difference was immediate and obvious. Soundstage is wide, bass is textured rather than bloated, and I get weeks of battery. A few minor software annoyances keep it from five stars, but the hardware is superb.
